Lash extensions

Before, during treatment and aftercare advice

This depends on your eyelash treatment. Classic and Russian lashes will last the lifetime of the natural lashes they are adhered to, which is generally 4 – 6 weeks. After this time, most lashes will have fallen. To keep lashes looking their best, it is recommended to have regular infill treatments every 2 – 3 weeks and to follow the aftercare your technician recommends. Its is also recommended that you have a "lash break" following 12 weeks of continuous wear.

Lash Perfect lash extensions do not damage the natural lashes. With correct aftercare, the natural lash should remain unaffected.

Application is gentle, totally comfortable, and your eyes will be protected. You will need to keep your eyes closed for the duration of the treatment. Your technician will have been specially trained to ensure your comfort while applying any lash extensions.

Lash Perfect lash extensions can be worn continually. We recommend that a fresh set is applied occasionally just to keep them looking their best. However a "lash break" is also advised following 12 weeks of continuous wear.

A patch test is required 48 hours prior to all lash extension treatments to ascertain your sensitivity to the glue adhesive.

Yes – a colour to match your natural hair colour or your desired colour can be mixed for you.

What to expect

Your first will be your longest, taking at least 90 minutes and possibly upward of two hours. You should arrive at the salon with your eyes entirely clean of makeup.

We ask that our clients don’t have caffeine before they come in. We need you lying still so use the time wisely and unplug and chill. Lash naps are FREE by the way LOL!

Make sure to switch your phone to aeroplane mode to make sure it won’t be buzzing in your pocket with notifications as you won’t be able to check it for 2 hours! And given the complicated logistics of extricating yourself mid-application, you should always use the loo just before your appointment begins :)

We will discuss your expectations and personal tastes with you: Are you interested in a more subtle look, or are you hoping to unleash your inner diva? The health and thickness of your natural lashes as well as the shape of your face and eyes will be used to determine the right set of extensions for you.

To begin, you’ll be lying down on your back so get comfortable. Your bottom lashes will be shielded with under-eye pads, stickers or tape. Prepare for your eyes to remain closed for the entire application, as your technician delicately affixes each extension with tweezers.

It may take a few minutes to adjust to the knowledge that a pointed metal object is moving so close to your eyeball, but the procedure is gentle enough that, if you’re like me, you might very well find yourself dozing off. I’m usually awakened by the breeze of a small fan or nano mister the technician points at my lashes to help dry the adhesive as the service wraps up.

ps- you should now be on your 2nd lash nap by now LOL ;-)

To maximise the lifespan of your eyelash extensions follow these important tips as the first 24 hours are crucial for ensuring your eyelash extensions are long lasting;

  • Avoid breaking down the adhesive bond of your eyelash extensions
  • Avoid getting your eyelash extensions wet 48hr post treatment
  • Avoid hot steam from saunas, showers or Jacuzzi's
  • Do not touch your eyelash extensions excessively
  • General Maintenance
  • Do not perm or tint your eyelash extensions
  • Do not use mechanical or heated curlers on your eyelash extensions
  • Be gentle with your eyelash extensions - avoid rubbing or touching!
  • Use oil free makeup remover to clean eyelashes and eye area
  • Do not use any oil based (waterproof) mascara
  • Do not use oil based makeup
  • Never pick or pull at your eyelash extensions

After your appointment, don’t let your extensions get wet for the next 24- 48 hours, so that the glue can cure completely. Steer clear of humid environments like saunas, too.

To preserve your extensions, keep them clean and gently de-tangle them with a pristine mascara wand or spoolie brush every day (these are freely available and will be handed to you)

You can wear eye makeup (but accept that oils and oil-based makeup remover are your lashes’ worst enemy, because they break down the adhesive. I always recommend that you steer clear of liquid eyeliner. When it comes to mascara specifically, the experts suggest skipping it. You don’t really need it! That’s why you’ve opted for extensions right?

Bare in mind that your lash tech has carefully handmade fans and by adding mascara, those fans will only result in a ‘spider look’ eye and promote poor retention :(. The rule of thumb for eyelash extensions is the less you mess with them, the better and longer they are going to stay :)

To keep your extensions looking full and fresh, touch-ups should be scheduled every two to three weeks. These fill-in appointments take roughly one hour and after a month, you’ll normally be charged for a full, new set.

Extensions, properly applied and cared for, should not make your eyelashes fall out, but you will notice some inevitable casualties as your lashes grow and shed according to their natural cycles.

We recommend that you take ‘lash breaks’ every 3 months (5-6 weeks) for prolonged wear.

Brow Lamination

This treatment is perfect for those with unruly or curly brows or brows that grow downward.  It will also make almost any brow look more full, especially if a tint is performed as well. However, brow lamination may not be for everyone. There are different styles of lamination and it's important to discuss your preferred look with your technician.

  • Pregnancy
  • Skin disease, trauma, abrasions or burns in the immediate area
  • Eye infection or inflammation
  • Hypersensitive skin/eyes
  • Short, straight brows may not experience dramatic results

Most people will greatly benefit from a brow tint.  It helps the brow appear dramatically more full, filled in and well-shaped. Exceptions would be someone who does not like the look of their brows darker or filled in and in this case the tint can easily be skipped.

For the first 24 hours:

  • Do not get brows wet.
  • No other facial beauty treatments.
  • Do not take a hot bath, shower or sauna, the steam can impact the effect of the treatment.
  • No brow makeup for 24 hours.
  • Do not use harsh cleansing products on brows.
  • Try to use oil-free products to help maintain the life of your lamination.

A Beauty Therapist who is trained to a level 3, semi-permanent makeup artist, a Dentist, Nurse or Doctor. Sally Hughes is fully qualified to level 3 standard.

It is extremely safe when performed by a professionally trained technician. The technique is performed by using a specialised sterile surgical instrument. Once the skin is properly prepped, the technician holds the skin taught and gently scrapes the blade at a 45-degree angle.

No, this is physiologically impossible. The soft, fine villous hair will grow back slowly – usually in about 4 weeks.

Yes, excessive scraping, nicks and cuts can cause bleeding. That is why it is very important to have a professional technician who has the correct tools to do this treatment.

The treatment is to be only performed on the face. You should not Dermaplane the eyelids, neck or chest.

Dermaplaning can be done every 3-4 weeks. Treating the skin in this manner removes about 2 – 3 weeks’ worth of dead skin cells. The technician should allow the skin to complete its normal skin cycle of approximately 30 days before repeating.

Yes. Dermaplaning is an excellent way to prep the skin for a chemical peel.

All skin types can benefit from Dermaplaning. Even men can be treated over non-bearded areas only.

Absolutely Not, it’s surprisingly relaxing!

Automated micro-needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for treating the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance. During this procedure, the Eclipse MicroPen™ is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels through which topical gels, creams and serums can be penetrated deeper into the dermis to help improve the appearance of the skin.

Micro-needling can significantly reduce and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks

The Eclipse MicroPen™ can be used on all parts of the body, including the: face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

Initially, your skin care professional will apply topical lidocaine to numb the skin and ensure a comfortable and pain-free treatment. Then, a thin layer of topical gel is applied and the pen is gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.

The procedure takes 30-45 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.

Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the Eclipse MicroPen™ setting used and the number of overlapping passes your skin care professional performs. On average, patients are red up to 2 to 4 days. Many patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours.

Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months after a treatment as collagen production continues.

Some patients only require a single treatment once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3-4 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals.
